Dynamic Body, Still Mind

On the serene banks of the Sohanashini River in Chittur, Palakkad, Lakshmi, a devoted housewife, toiled tirelessly. From dawn till dusk, she cooked, cleaned, and managed her home. But in the chaos of daily life, her mind never found peace.

One evening, feeling exhausted, she walked along the riverbank, where she saw Guru Maniji, a great Yoga master, meditating under a banyan tree.

Curious, she approached him. “Guruji, I work all day. My body is always in motion, but my mind feels restless. How do I find balance?”

Guru Maniji smiled and gave a clay pot to Lakshmi and asked her to get it filled from the river and walk back to the Ashram without spilling a drop.

Lakshmi carefully stepped forward, eyes locked on the pot. With each step, she ignored the rustling trees, the chirping birds, and the flowing river—her mind focused only on the pot.

When she reached the other side, Guru Maniji asked, “What did you notice along the way?”

She paused. “Nothing, Guruji. I was focused only on the water.”

The Guru nodded. “That is the key. Your body can be in motion, but your mind must stay still.”

That day, Lakshmi learned a great truth—
"The body should be dynamic, but the mind must stay still.”
