A Strange Treasure
During the time of ancient Nalanda University, when students from all over the world came to learn, there lived a poor student named Satyajith. Unlike most rich students who came with big chariots and fat purses, Satyajith came with nothing but determination and passion.
On one occasion, he sat under a banyan tree with his teacher and Acharya Thadhathan asked him, "Satyajith, if all your things that you possessed were lost, what would you carry still?"With certain reluctance, Satyajith respectfully inquired, "Is it my knowledge, Acharya-ji?"
The teacher smiled and replied, "You are absolutely right Satyajith. material possessions can be robbed, houses can collapse, but the knowledge you accumulate is the one treasure that will accompany you, wherever you may travel in your life."
Generations went by, kingdoms came and went, but Satyajith once a destitute student was now a wise and acclaimed counselor to kings, helped by the wealth he had accumulated at Nalanda.
And the masses would frequently comment:
"Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere."
