The Seed He Dug Up
A young man had recently begun working in his small patch of land.
He had sown seeds with great enthusiasm and watered them every day. For a few days, he waited eagerly, expecting to see signs of growth.
But nothing appeared. Each morning, he would walk to the field, look at the soil, and return disappointed. After several days, his impatience grew stronger.
“What is the use?” he thought. “Nothing is happening.”
One afternoon, he came to Sai Baba.
“Baba, I have done everything properly,” he said.
“I have planted, I have watered… but nothing is growing.”
Baba listened and asked quietly,
“What did you do this morning?”
The man hesitated.
“I dug a little… just to check if the seed had sprouted,” he admitted.
Baba smiled gently.
“If you keep digging it up,” he said, “how will it grow?”
The man stood silent.
For the first time, he realized that his impatience was not helping the seed—it was disturbing it.
From that day, he continued his work, but without the urge to check every moment. In time, the first green shoot appeared. And this time, he simply stood and watched.
Moral
Growth needs patience, not constant interference.
Not everything that is growing can be seen immediately. Trust the process, even when the soil looks unchanged.
